Community Service

April 17, 2012

This week for the Edublog Challenge  I am going to talk about voluntary work in my community and how you can help your community as well.

What I would volunteer for would be the Food Bank of Monterey. All the food goes to the people who need it. They send just about 6 million pounds of food every year to them. The reason why I would work there is because there are many people in out county that need food. We waste a lot of food while others cannot even afford food. What I think that I will get in return is the happy faces I get to see people eating. Starvation is just a horrible thing to see of people. I want to help end that problem and that is why I chose the Food Bank of Monterey. You can help too, if you want to know how  just click the Food Bank of Monterey link and you can find all the information about the cause, how to help, and giving some donations as well. That’s all for this weeks Edublog’s challenge. Until next time.

Don’t forget to take this survey I created for you guys.

The Battle of Thermopylae

April 16, 2012

I am a Persian soldier who has been in one of the most greatest battles in ancient history. The battle of Thermopylae. There were 7,000 Greek soldiers who were holding us 250.00 Persians off for two whole entire days. The way us Persians won that battle is because a Greek ratted out an area for us to sneak behind them at attack. They made most of their army go back to safety but a few hundred stayed and fought until their death. This is how I was part of one of the most greatest battle in history.

This is Sparta!

The war was very fierce. Thousands of soldiers covering puddles of blood. The smell of dead corpses filled the air. The screams of soldiers is all you would hear. Spears going straight through thousands of hearts. Slashes on thousands of bodies Spartan’s clashing their shields onto the Persian army.  Arrows covering the sky turning it dark. Every single arrow hitting the rest of the Spartans until not one of them was left standing. Seeing some of your own family die in front of you. Moments that you just don’t want to see. The war went on for days. 10,000 of my people killed by the Greeks. That is what the war of Thermopylae was like

Narrative Poem

All In or All Out

Lunchtime.
In school,
at the basketball court.

The name’s Dame,
and my rival Danny.
We’ve played basketball all our life.

Time to decide who’s best.
Every week we’re at it.
Our matches always differ.

Time’s slipping away.
Danny is a scoring machine.
The scores reach to 32:34

5 minutes left, adrenaline fills the air.
Danny has the ball.
Stealth like a ninja, I steal it.

I’m in the zone.
This last determines who’s best.
Time moving slower.

I go for the three pointer.
“Swish.”
The ball flies out of my hands.
Silence, but then I make it!

We shake hands and say, “Good Game.”
We go beyond our limits,
for our next battle.

Math summary

March 30, 2012

This week in math was just back breaking work. We learned how to find perimeter .That was just the easy part, we also had to area of rectangles, circles, triangles, trapezoids, parallelogram,  and all sorts of other shapes. Not just were we finding area of one shape but even two. The tricky part was that the shapes weren’t all the same. Some were mixed, squares and circles and triangles and rectangles. In order to get out of that mix you would have to draw lines and find sides that were the same. That is not the end just yet. We also found out how to find the circumference of a circle. In order to find it you would have to know what Pi equals. No not the food, the math term which equals 3.14 and if you wanted to go farther, it would be 3.14159. That is basically what we learned all this week. And now you know why it was so harsh but now it’s Spring break!

I guess I need help with the mixed shapes lesson. I sort of understand it but then again it is also confusing to me when you have to find other bases or heights.

My Spartan Life

March 27, 2012

Dear Mom and Dad,

I have finally became a Spartan. Ever since the age of seven, it has always been back breaking work at the barracks. Theft was surprisingly encouraged but you got beat up if you got caught. The generals have told me that I have been the most successful Spartan from the rest. My strength and speed was insanely high for my age. Growing up in the barracks was  tough but, now I am a strong and ready for any war that comes up. I am ready to serve my homeland, Sparta.

Having wise people as our government was a great choice. They have lived for a long time and know the most about Sparta and how it should be ran. I say that Sparta is better than Athens in many ways. First of all, Sparta is always ready in war and Athens have weak bodies. Second, I think that Oligarchy is better than Democracy. Who knows what the citizens might think of laws and approval. I say that Sparta will have an amazing future. With all the strength we have, we can control all the land. Sparta, the world’s country, starting off here in Greece and spread all around.

20 ways angles appear.

March 19, 2012

This is my blog post that shows how angles can appear in your life.  Angles were ll that we learned this week. Depending on the way lines are is the way you find different angles. A right angle is exactly 90 degrees, an acute angle is less than 90 degrees, and an obtuse angle is over 90 degrees. A straight line though measures 180 degrees.

1. When it is 3:00 the hands are in a right angle.
2. When you lay down on bed you make a straight angle.
3. You look at a chair and it is at a right angle.
4. When you are on your knees you make a right angle.
5. When Cheerleaders do a cheer their arms at at different angles.
6. When you bend down for something you form an acute angle.
7. The number 7 is an acute angle.
8. When you are stretching your arms out you make a straight line.
9. When you raise your hand it is a straight angle.
10. When you kick your legs can make an acute angle.
11. The letter L makes a right angle.
12. When you put your arms out out for a hug it is an obtuse angle.
13. When you show off your biceps you make a right angle.
14. When you do the splits you do a straight line.
15. When you make a check mark with you fingers it makes an obtuse angle.
16. I makes 3 straight lines.
17. V makes an acute angle.
18. When you point at something your finger makes a straight line.
19. The number 1 makes a straight line.
20. When a football coach signals that it was a touchdown his arms makes straight lines.

Facebook in 10 years.

March 15, 2012

One assignment I had this week was to create a fake Facebook page about 10 years from now. I had to put a conversation up that was positive thinking. In this case I put it as a job type of conversation. I also had to put up some information about me too. I also put images and comments from my friends at that time. Putting down some goals I achieved in the ten years of time. That is what my assignment was for this week. That is why I have created this fake Facebook page on my blog.

I have many plans for myself in ten years as you can see. I go and try to sign up to become an engineer in the future, I want to finish what my dad started. I also have some new interests. I am still single at that point. I get in the University of Princeton, one of my most important goals in my life. I still have important friends ever since middle school. I still have some normal conversations with my friends. I really hope this all happens to me. That is what my plans are for myself in the next ten years.
